02-Apr-09 The Blog (RIP)

Sadly, we have decided to remove the blog, this time permanently.

I know that the blog did have a small number of loyal readers who came to visit on a regular basis and we're sorry that we've had to remove your daily fix but such are the demands of the business and the need to develop new instruments and new music, a decision has been made to cease all further updates and to focus completely on new projects.

The various News sections in the individual band web sites will still be updated whenever we have some information and we may use these pages comment on relevant issues but, as far as the blog is concerned, this really is the end.

Again, I am sincerely sorry to disappoint our regular readers but in view of my ever-increasing workload I need to reduce my online presence as much as possible.

Best wishes
David and Jules

23-Feb-09 Newcastle Astronomical Society

Due to a series of irreconcilable differences between myself and the committee, I have left Newcastle Astronomical Society. Permanently.

All future astronomical events, talks and broadcasts, in particular those supported by the Outreach Programme, will operated under the banner of the most excellent Sunderland Astronomical Society.

22-Feb-09 Additions II

Added Outreach events for Trefoil Guild and Archibold School. Deleted Second Life concert and re-scheduled the Stillstream event for April. Sorry for these changes. Trying to do too much in too short a space of time.

05-Feb-09 Additions

Added Synth/DIY and Datarama events. Got Twitter working as an RSS Feed.

20-Jan-09 Radio Newcastle Interview

I've been invited to appear on Radio Newcastle's The Paddy MacDee Show to talk about UFOs, Alien Abduction and related phenomena from the point of view of a scientist. Should be good for a chuckle.

15-Jan-09 Science Festival

The Science Festival event has been pulled. Apparently, there isn't space for me in the schedule, which is a bit of a disappointment since they were going to use my slot to advertise the Mini-Astro event. If I want to contribute to the 2010 event then I've been invited to re-apply. Yeah, like that's going to happen.

09-Jan-09 General update

This first draft of the schedule has been posted. I'm still waiting for confirmation of a fairly high profile lecture/demo in March in Newcastle. I've not heard anything conclusive from the organisers and so have no idea what's happening. Getting kind of close though.

I had provisionally added the Generations concert into the schedule for early March, around Easter, but I can't see that happening in the short term. The Cathedral still haven't found a replacement organist/choirmaster and I haven't written much in the way on new music either. Time to pull one's finder out.

I'm tring to organise a couple of local gigs for later in the year, say May through to August, probably something outdoors would be nice for a change, as would something that has nothing to do whatsoever with the EM scene. Wait and see.

I've also added a contact form because visitors had to go around the houses somewhat to mail me directly.

Enjoy.
