Hello,
Welcome to my own private corner of the Thinking Metal site. Herein, you will find all manner of strange and wonderful snippets of information detailing my current range of activities, the famous blog (popular amongst trivia trippers and stalkers the world over), some picture galleries and my current schedule.
Why is this here? Why do I think you will want to read all this stuff?
This year, 2009, is going to be exceptionally busy. As most visitors already know, I'm a gigging musician, currently engaged with the Ion project. Ion has been very successful. Indeed, far more successful than we ever expected. To me, it began as just a side project, away from my day job with T-Bass and SkinMechanix, but it's won so many awards and enjoyed so much airplay that I really want to follow this up in 2009, to give it the best possible shot at a lasting future. I plan on having a couple of new Ion albums finished before the end of the year, as well as a couple of local gigs under our belt so this is where to look if you want to learn more.
What else? Well, I'm also an amateur astronomer and very active with several of the local astronomical societies. For instance, I look after the Public Outreach programme for Newcastle Astronomical Society, which involves going out into the community to talk about science and astronomy. I also work on their committee, look after their web pages and service the online newsgroup, newcastle_astro.
2009 is also the International Year of Astronomy and many of the local astronomical societies have come together to put on a series of lectures, demonstrations and observing sessions with the aim of introducing as many people as possible to the science of astronomy. Astronomy is the oldest science in the world and also one of the most rewarding. It costs nothing except a little time and patience to become an observer, and amateur astronomers can make major contributions to the field, just as the professionals do.
As of 6th January 2009, I have a large number of lecturing and gigging commitments. These are listed in detail for all to see on our wall planner but the problem is that you would need to come to our house to see it, which isn't much help, really.
So, that's why this section is here.
Read on and enjoy. Drop me a line if you feel so inclined.
